FC Bayern: Uli Hoeneß against World Cup in the two-year rhythm
Uli Hoeneß, Honorary President of FC Bayern, holds “Nix” from a Football World Cup every two years.
“If something happens every two years, the anticipation would not be the same. It would be something commonplace. On a World Cup you are looking forward to a true highlight because it is a real highlight. Every two years would not stop this feeling,” said the 70-year-old Hoeneß The “Abendzeitung Munich”.
“Even with regard to the health and performance of the players, it is not to be answered in my eyes to organize a World Cup in the two-year rhythm. The calendar is already completely overrest.”
So far, the World Championships are aligned every four years. FIFA-Boss Gianni Infantino, however, is massively promoting a final round in the two-year rhythm. Among other things, he points to the potential lush additional revenue for the associations.
However, in the dispute, the European Football Union and the South American Confederation Conmebol are against it.
