Several years ago, HBO had large plans for a prequel series to Game of Thrones. However, this is not meant House of the Dragon, this series is known to be launched next year. Previously, producers worked on a project, which was known, among other things, known as Blood moon and The Long Night. These never saw the light of the world, but cost the sender HBO very much money.

The Journalist James Andrew Miller has recently released his new book Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers. In it, among other things, he quotes the former WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt. This seemed apparently looking for insight behind the scenes and thus a lot of insider knowledge.

When I arrived there, they had spent more than $30 million for the pilot sequence of the game-of-throne prequel. When I saw a cutting up a few months after my arrival, I have to Casey Boys (Chief Content Officer of HBO) said: ‘That just does not work, and I do not think that the premise of the original can do justice’. He had not contradicted what was a relief. Unfortunately, we decided to pull the plug. An enormous pressure to make it true. I do not think it was working.

Thus, HBO has invested more than $30 million for the concept as well as the filming the pilot sequence of Game of Thrones: Blood moon, who probably never has to face someone outside the station.
